When it comes to trucks, the F-Series is the most iconic. This is thanks to its reliability and power, which make it America’s favorite truck. Within the F-Series name, there are a few different models there’s the F-150, F-250, F-350, and F-450.

Starting with the F-150, most models in the Super Duty category will follow the overall design, but thanks to some upgraded hardware, they will be able to do more. For the F-150, models from 2015-2020, you can look forward to 13,200 pounds of towing capacity, but if you need more, then you can look for newer models, as they can tow up to 14,000 pounds.

In 2018, the F-150 saw some safety features join the lineup. This took the form of the pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, and they added adaptive cruise control with stop and go that makes driving a bit easier.

Moving on to the Super Duty lineup, there’s the F-250 that can tow up to 22,800 pounds, the F-350 can tow up to 35,750 pounds, and the F-450 can tow up to 37,000 pounds. The Super Duty lineup is the best option for those who need something strong when properly equipped.

The Ford Ranger, as we know it today, debuted in 2019. This model is available as a SuperCab or SuperCrew midsize pickup. The model can be found in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims; no matter the trim, the engine is the same 2.3L I4. This engine is surprisingly efficient, getting up to 23 MPG combined, depending on the trim.

When 2022 came around, the Raptor trim level and the Tremor trim level were introduced to the lineup. This was done to add some off-road features to the Ranger. While the Ranger doesn’t have towing capabilities right away, you’ll be able to find some models that are equipped with the optional tow package, which allows you to tow up to 7,500 pounds with ease.

The experts at Car and Driver think that out of all of the trims, the XL with the SuperCab is the best option. This is thanks to it having a “smaller cab, rear-drive configuration, and lower level of standard equipment, it’s not as heavy as the XLT and Lariat trims, meaning it’ll get up to speed a little quicker.”

Moving on to the smallest truck in the family, the Maverick is the best option for those who live in the city. Due to its smaller size, it tows less at 2,000 pounds, or when properly equipped, you can tow up to 4,000 pounds. The engine that this model uses is the 2.5L I4 that comes standard, which is able to get you 37 MPG combined.

During the first few years, the Maverick was only available in three trims. These were the XL, XLT, and Lariat. In 2025, the Lobo was added. While the first three trims are what you’d expect, the Lobo came out of left field. Standard equipment on all trims includes a touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other standout features you can find are a rear-view camera, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. If you want extra, you can look for models that may be equipped with a power and tilt moonroof.

The Lobo comes powered by a 2.0L I4 engine that can be found on the other trims, but it comes with dual-piston front calipers for the braking system, a sports-tuned suspension. This helps give the truck a better feel.
