While this generation is so new and has yet to enter production, it will be difficult to find a used model right away, especially at the time of writing this article, but as the generation goes on, they’ll come up. Here is what to keep in mind for the most recent model.

With production starting in late 2025, it will come in 7 trims. The trims are LE, XLE, Limited, Woodland, SE, XSE, and GR Sport. No matter the trim, it will be an electric drivetrain, making it even more environmentally friendly.

For a generation that you're guaranteed to find, this one came in a few trims, with both gas and hybrid options. The trims you can find are the LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, and Limited. Out of these trims, the LE, XLE, and Limited trims can be found as hybrid and gas models. The hybrid exclusive trim is the XSE trim.

If you want something a bit more capable, then you can look for the Adventure or Limited. This is because they are equipped with Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD. This comes with multi terrain select that lets you maximize traction on sand, mud, rock, and dirt.

No matter the trim, you can find a 2.5L engine, as well as a 7-inch touchscreen that comes standard, as well as Toyota Safety Sense 2.0.

For the first year of this generation, the XLE is a standout trim since it came with a sunroof. For model year 2020, some new features were added, as well as a new trim. The new trim is the TRD Off-Road trim, this comes with 18-inch wheels, with matching All-Terrain tires, and a TRD-tined suspension kit.

The next few years were pretty stale for the RAV4, but that changed with model year 2023. Taking a closer look at the powertrains that were from this generation, there’s two you can look for. One being strictly gas, and the other being a hybrid option.

Starting with the base 2.5L I4, you can get 30 MPG combined, able to go up to 435 miles on range. When looking at the hybrid 2.5L I4, this has 40 MPG combined, getting just under 600 miles, at 580 miles of total range.

While the regular gas engine isn’t bad, the hybrid is better. If the most range is something that you're interested in, then we recommend a hybrid variant.

Taking a closer look at some other trims, the LE is pretty basic, making it a great starter vehicle, but the XLE Premium takes it up a notch. This is because it comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and shift knob.
